When Matthew Garrity was walking around Hemlock Lake in New York recently, he saw something strange out in the water.
So he did what anyone would do and went out in a kayak to investigate. But when he finally got close to strangeness in question and turned on the camera, he couldn’t help but laugh at what he saw.
Instead of seeing a big log bobbing in the water, he came across a massive black bear just taking a swim to the other side of the lake. Listening to the poor thing huff and puff its way to the shore basically reminds me of how I sound when I hit the gym.
Although many would avoid hanging out with a bear in the middle of a lake, that’s not what Garrity did. “I suppose I didn’t flee because once I realized it was a very large black bear, I knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime moment,” he said. “I think my curiosity and my adrenaline got the best of me.”
