Having fun in the snow is great when you’re a kid and that’s what you’re supposed to do. But what about now that you’re an adult and you’re supposed to be beyond childish activities like sledding and building snowmen? Well, the good news is, you’re still allowed to have fun in the snow. Remember, no one has the right to judge you just because you dare to have a good time.
So next time your hometown gets a fresh layer of powder, here are some ideas to help you make the most of it. You’re only as young as you feel, after all.
1. Organize your own Game of Thrones snow war.
Get all your friends together, form teams or “houses” and then let the war begin! No one can say it’s a childish snowball fight if there are politics involved, right?
2. Build snow sculptures with friends.
No rudimentary snowmen for you. You’re an adult now, so you better construct yourself an epic snow castle or an igloo.
3. Go ice skating.
Unless you’ve been practicing your whole life, ice skating is one of those activities that everyone sucks at, so you might as well go and have a laugh.
4. Learn to snowboard or ski.
You don’t have to go to an expensive resort and buy a bunch of gear. Find a friend who’s already got some equipment and head to the nearest hill.
5. Stay inside and have a bake-a-thon.
No point going outside when the weather is frightful, but it’s the perfect time to bake some mad cookies.
6. Stay inside and drink.
It’s cold outside, so you need the alcohol to keep you warm, right? Right?
7. Do the kind of stuff your mom never let you do when you were a kid.
We don’t condone this behavior, but all I’m saying is that mom would never know if you tied a sled to the back of your friend’s pickup truck and then drove down the street. Just saying.
8. Go geocaching!
If going on a treasure hunt is fun, going on a treasure hunt in the snow will be extra fun!
9. Try something new like ice fishing or snowshoeing.
You never know. It might turn out to be your new favorite thing.
10. Grab your shovels and help each other out.
Shoveling is boring, but shoveling while shooting the breeze with your friends is fun. It’ll go by so much faster, too.
11. Take the dog for a walk.
Most dogs geek out at the sight of snow. It’s pretty hilarious to watch.
12. Take yourself for a walk and just enjoy the scenery.
The world becomes ten times more beautiful when it snows. That only lasts until it starts to melt, though. Then it’s gross.
13. Enjoy some snow beers.
Sit atop your snow castle, crack open a cold one and rule over your snowy kingdom. You’re the king of the world.
14. Go the local ice rink and just people-watch.
Just try not to laugh too loud when people fall on their butt.
15. Screw the haters and do whatever the hell you want.
So what if you’re an adult? You’re still allowed to have fun in the snow.
