90’s Beauty Trends We’ve All Tried To Forget

Oh, the 90’s.  What a wonderful time it was for overly-plucked brows, dramatic lip-liner and bold eyeshadow colors.  The beauty trends of that decade were wonderfully memorable…so memorable (and awful at the same time) that we’re still trying to forget about them.  So, in case you did forget, remember again.  Here are 90’s beauty trends we’ve all tried to forget.

1. Rainbow brows and brown lipstick

We all went through that 90’s trend when eyebrows were shaped more like rainbows, giving us all a permanently surprised look and making us look a little on the suspicious side.  Also, the brown lipstick.  Yeah, not a good look.

2. Baby buns

Although this has been brought back in style once or twice (think Miley Cyrus), no one pulled it off quite as well as Gwen Stefani.  Those buns were pure perfection.

3. Crazy-colored red hair

Ok, gingers, we know your secret: no one in the world has red hair quite like this.  You just like to make us think you do.  This bright red color was hot and haute circa 1995.

4. Super thin eyebrows

Now, with the eyebrow trends leaning towards full and natural, the overly plucked brow looks a little ridiculous.  But, back then we all wanted the Pamela brown.

5. Slicked down bangs

We all wanted bangs, but we wanted them out of our face, so we slicked them down with GEL.  Ahhhhh!!!

6. Cornrow twists

Why did every girl in the 90’s do these with her hair?  We don’t know, but we remember that it was all the rage.

7. Bright blue eyeshadow

Yuck.  You’d think the blue would enhance blue eyes, but in reality, it just takes away from them.

8. Butterfly clip ponytail

You know you used to wear your hair up like almost every single day.  Easy, simple and chic, right?

This Meg Ryan look was very popular back in the 90’s…almost as popular as…

10. The ‘Rachel’ do

Every woman in America wanted this haircut in 1995 and it’s all Rachel Green’s fault.

12. Pixie cuts

This type of hairstyle for women was almost as  popular as metallic shiny lips.

13. Crimped hair

It was truly all the rage.  Wait a second– Jennifer Love Hewitt– is that you???

14. Top knot things

This was your go-to prom look.  You figured out a way to make your hair look messy and glamorous at the same time, then added too-light foundation and metallic-red lips.

15. It’s all 90’s here…

Kirsten Dunst is rocking the top knots, butterfly clips, lavender eyeshadow, metallic lips and long pieces in front.  She win for most atrocious 90’s looks all-in-one!

16. Double barrettes

You know you were stylin’ when you wore double sparkly barrettes to hold your crimped hair in place.

17. Chunky highlights

We just couldn’t get enough of those super-chunky highlights in our hair.  Combine that with her brown lipstick and thinly penciled eyebrows and you’re sure to know what decade she’s from!

18. Long pieces in front

In this really awful photo of Gwyneth Paltrow, we can clearly see that youth before beauty really is true.
