Upon initial inspection the photos in American photographer and creative director Stephen McMennamy’s “Combophotos” may seem like surreal images that were created using Photoshop. The truth is, these awesomely strange images were achieved using a less complicated method.
McMennamy’s much simpler process involves taking two different photos and aligning them as two halves to create an unexpected and quirky whole, such as trucks having donuts as tires and a mountain top on top of an ice cream cone.
“It’s really just from looking around and seeing what things are out in the world might make for an interesting fit or what would make for a nice contrast once combined,” says McMennamy. “As far as process, it’s just a matter of me hunting things down and aiming for the cleanest shot possible.”
