Cool New Uses For Everyday Things

There are things all around your house that have many more uses than just the normal things that you use them for!  Be creative, re-use, recycle and reduce the things you just throw away.  Here are cool new uses for everyday things.

1. Use dryer sheets to help with many things

Did you know dryer sheets can take hard-water stains off your plastic shower curtains, take the dust off your furniture, keep your linens fresh, and keep bugs away.

2. Egg carton planters

Use an old egg carton to plant sprouts that are too delicate to be outside yet.  When you’re ready to plant, just put it in the ground with the carton because it will disintegrate.

3. Rubber band paint hack

In order not to spill paint on the sides of the can, just use a rubber band around the middle. Easy and saves paint!

4. Sprout cone

You can also plant seeds or sprouts in an ice cream cone.  When ready to plant, plant the spouts in the cone.  It will disintegrate in the ground.

5. Doorknob towel hanger

Use old vintage door knobs as a place to hang your towels.  Easy and very cute!.

6. Up-cycle old furniture

When you’ve got an old dresser to get rid of, why not turn it into a bench to sit on.  A little bit of paint and upholstery is all you need!

7. Tissue bag holder

When you’re done with a tissue box, don’t throw it away.  Use it as a storage for plastic bags.  They’ll dispense one at a time and stay balled up and small.

8. Coat hanger for cups

Why not hang cups on a wall with coat hangers.  It’s a cute and creative way to display cups.

9. Ice cube balloons

If you want a colorful way to keep things cold–here you go!  Fill up water balloons with one cup of water and freeze them.  Then store your drinks with the balloons.  It will look colorful and fun, but won’t water down your drinks.

10. Makeup storage

Use an old sunglass case to hold a few key makeup items so they don’t get lost and mixed up inside your purse.

11. Easy memo board

Use an old frame with chicken wire and clothespins to easily display photos, keepsakes or tickets.

12. Globe lamps

The globe lives on!  Use an old globe half as a whimsical lamp.

13. Give tires new life

Tires can be a perfect size and shape for a new planter.  Don’t just throw them away to waste in a dump, plant flowers inside and give them new purpose.

14. Keep your apples fresh

Use a rubber band to hold together a cut apple.  That way, the inside of the apple will stay fresh until you’re ready to eat it.

15. Use light bulbs as flower vases

Put small flowers in bundles inside upside down lamps for a makeshift vase.  This looks pretty and it’s easy to do!

16. Re-use old wine bottles

Give wine bottles a second chance by making them part of your home decor.  Wrap them in twine and fill them with flowers for a pretty look.

17. Use razors to remove pills

Use an old razor to take pills off of old clothing.  This helps your clothes look like new!

18. Make a chair swing

Use an old chair– don’t throw it away– turn it into a chair swing.  You’ll enjoy this treasure for years to come.
