This is even after you factor the airfare.  This is because if your country of origin has a high cost of living, like in the U.S., traveling to countries with lower costs of living can be more affordable or just the same price than traveling in the U.S.  Try to use the Big Mac Index and Expatistan to attempt to check the expenses of places you’ve never been.

#2 If you already bought a ticket, there’s actually a 24-hour get-out-of-jail-free card for almost all airlines.

If you’re flying through United Airlines, you can even extend the time period to 48 hours and not pay a small fee to lock in the airline prices.  American Airlines is usually exception to the rule, but they have their own version.
