Teen Draws Re-Imaginations Of Disney Animals As Humans

Most teens are focused on their friends, their love lives, their drama and all that.  But, this teen is too busy sketching her way to a job with Disney animation to be concerned about all that.  Alaina Bastian, of Provo, Utah is drawing quite the crowd right now, with her creative drawings of Disney animals.  She re-imagined them as humans, but kept their unique personality traits, to make the recognizable to anyone who watched these Disney movies as a kid.  Alaina says she started drawing when bullies used to pick on her in grade school– but look who’s laughing now.  The college sophomore is majoring in illustration and we’ll bet she’s sure to get a great job in the future…perhaps even sketching some animals or humans for a future Disney project.  Check out these renditions– teen draws re-imaginations of Disney animals as humans.

1. Lady and the Tramp

We love the way these sweet dogs came to life under Alaina’s pen.  From the winking eye to the coloring, this picture is perfection.  We really could see Lady and the Tramp looking like this!  Now we just need to see them over a big bowl of spaghetti, slurping up some noodles together.

2. The Aristocats

Here’s what Alaina had to say about drawing Duchess and O’Malley from The Aristocats.  “I think this one was harder, because O’Malley is such a bulky character, in face and build, so he makes kind of a funny-looking human. Also, maintaining the 1900-1910s look was hard to do for Duchess because her hair would look much better as a 20’s girl– but I found an appropriate hairstyle for her.”  We love how Duchess’ hairstyle became part of the shape from the hair on her face as a cat.  And O’Malley looks like a pretty handsome guy in person!

3. The Lion King

Here’s her renditions of Simba and Nala from The Lion King.  We’ve got to say– we’re seriously impressed with her ability to make them look like people from Africa and also like the lions they once were.  Alaina claims some inspiration for the African people comes from the Broadway musical.

4. The Jungle Book

Here’s Bagheer and Baloo if they were human.  We love the Indian clothing and the way she matches their jaws and facial structure as animals and humans.

5. Bolt

This almost Anime-looking rendition of Bolt and Mittens has us wanting some more Disney superhero action here soon!  They look as if they could take on the world.

6. Oliver and company

Here’s a few dogs from Oliver and Company, Oliver, Dodger and Rita together.  Gotta love that stubble on Dodger’s chin– makes him look like a real low-class act.  But, Rita pulls this whole thing together, almost posing as a motherly figure for Oliver.

7. Tarzan

Here’s Turk and Tantor drawn as if they were human from the movie Tarzan. We’re loving the way Turk’s hair looks the same on both of them.

8. Disney horses

This is Alaina’s interpretation of Samson, Pegasus, Frou Frou, and Khan if they were human.  She chose only a few of her favorite horses, and says she may do more in the future. She says she’s still laughing about how Frou Frou is pretty much the only female Disney horse.
