These days, it’s really hard to be a college student. You pay so much money in tuition, books, rent, and fees that it’s easy to run out of money and not have enough for food. With the student loan crisis looming in the United States, it’s the students who are shelling out everything they’ve got to go to college and still don’t have enough money to get by (and usually have loans to pay back on top of that). It’s a real problem! Here are 15 tragic confessions from college students who are truly broke.
1. Costco has free samples
This student isn’t the only one who peruses the aisles of Costco, pretending to shop while really sampling all the food vendors once or twice…or maybe even three times.
2. Some resort to theft
We sure hope this student doesn’t get caught and then expelled for shoplifting. But if its their only way to make a few bucks, we can’t really blame them. The bookstores mark the prices up way too high on books anyway.
3. Using all their faculties
If you’re really industrious, you’ll never need to buy toilet paper. You can take it from public bathrooms, frat houses, restaurants and more.
4. Great snack habits
Ice will curb your hunger for a while…and at least you’re staying hydrated, but to do well in school you need to have a full stomach too!
5. Apple sauce for every meal
Hey– we’ve all been there. We know what it’s like to stock up on Ramen noodles and eat the same cheap food for every meal of the day.
6. Lower your power bill
Nobody wants to pay more for utilities so college students find other ways to keep light in the house.
7. Turn off the radio
This doesn’t actually help save you on gasoline. Try turning off the air instead…and put some gas in your car.
8. Sleep instead of eating
This poor student just sleeps to stop thinking about food. This is so tragic! Someone find this person and buy them a decent meal! They need it!
9. Stolen panties
Our only question to this is– who wants to buy a bunch of used panties? That certainly can’t amount to much money unless you’re selling it to total perverts.
10. Pre-gaming with Cup Noodles
Pre-gaming is when you eat or drink beforehand so you don’t have to pay as much at the restaurant/bar. It’s a real money saver.
11. Watch TV instead
Watching the travel channel is almost the same as studying abroad…except for actually seeing things in person, eating the food, talking to the people…and well, everything about it.
12. When dating really meets your needs
There’s nothing wrong with a girl getting a free meal because she went on a date. Sometimes, a girl has got to eat.
13. Charge them rent
Renting out space to others is just a smart financial move– who needs a lot of space for yourself?
14. Stealing the green stuff
When you’re so broke you can’t even afford to support your own high…
15. Learning the art of trading
This way, everybody gets what they need.
